Yes it is. Trekking Mount Rinjani is generally safe for physically prepared hikers who follow proper safety procedures.
Rinjani has well-established and clearly marked trekking routes with moderate difficulty levels. When you follow your guide’s instructions, stay on the designated trail, and trek with an organized group, the risk of accidents is significantly minimized.
However, as with any mountain adventure, there are inherent risks. Reported incidents typically occur when hikers:
1. Leave the marked trail

Natural factors such as sudden weather changes are beyond human control, but with an experienced guide, proper equipment, and responsible trekking behavior, the climb can be both safe and highly rewarding.
Your safety on Mount Rinjani depends on preparation, discipline, and choosing a professional trekking team.

Trekking Mount Rinjani is considered moderately to highly challenging, especially for first-time hikers. However, anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and proper preparation can successfully reach the crater rim — and even the summit.

Most sections of the trail follow standard trekking paths. The most demanding part is typically the final hour before reaching the summit, where the terrain becomes steeper and sandy. No technical climbing or rock-climbing skills are required.

To make the trek more manageable, our porters carry camping equipment and food supplies, allowing you to focus on the hike itself.

Is the summit climb mandatory?

No, the summit climb is optional.

You may choose:

2 Days / 1 Night – Trek to the crater rim without attempting the summit.

3 Days / 2 Nights – Includes the summit climb option.

Even if you book a summit package, you can decide after the first day whether you feel ready to continue to the top. Your comfort and physical condition always come first.

With the right mindset, preparation, and support from an experienced team, the Rinjani trek becomes a challenging yet truly rewarding adventure.

It’s highly recommended that all hikers should have themselves medicall checked before attempting any mountain climb. If you are pregnant or have a story of suffering from the following ailments, it’s highly recommended that you should refrain from climbing: hypertension, diabetes, palpitation, arthritis, heart disease, severe anemia, peptic ulcers, epileptic fit, obesity(overweight), chronic asthma, muscular cramps , hepatitis (jaundice); or any others disease which may hamper the climber. you know your body best!!

Yes. We strongly recommend that all hikers undergo a basic medical check-up before attempting the climb.

You should reconsider or consult your doctor first if you are pregnant or have a history of the following conditions:

  1. Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  2. Heart disease or palpitations
  3. Diabetes
  4. Severe anemia
  5. Chronic asthma
  6. Epilepsy
  7. Peptic ulcers
  8. Arthritis or serious joint problems
  9. Hepatitis (jaundice)
  10. Obesity (overweight with limited stamina)
  11. Any other medical condition that may affect stamina or breathing.

Mount Rinjani involves long trekking hours, steep ascents, cold temperatures, and high altitude exposure. Good physical fitness and stamina are essential for safety and comfort.

If you are unsure about your condition, it is always best to seek medical advice before booking.

Rinjani is normally open for trekking and camping activities from 1st of April to 6th of January yearly. Moreover the park will be closed for any of the activities from the 2nd week of January to the end of march( 3 months) regarding to heavy rain which might en-dangerous lives.

April to June is considered the best time to climb because of the beginning of hiking season as well as the end of rainy season. It means the green landscapes can still be seen and lower amount of hikers found during these periods. the very high trekking season is from the early of July and to late august; the track will be hectic during these two months. Then September to the first week of January are also a good time to do hiking.

We suggest young children to be at least 10 years old due to the numerous steps and steep slops . similarly, elderly climbers need to be in good health and fitness level to attempt the climb.

Altitude sickness or acute mountain syndrome (AMS) affects evry individual differently and is regardless of fitness level. Most climbers will experience lightheaded or a mild headache, while a small percentage of climbers will suffer from nausea or vomiting. The symtomps of AMS vary different people but include dizziness , fatigue , confusion , difficulty walking . if you are feeling any of these syndromes please take some minutes rest and drink lot of water.

Go hiking to via senaru . senaru crater rim offers almost 75 percent of the best fiew in mount rinjani. So if you have a very short time staying in Lombok, this hiking package might be a smart option. The hike begins in senaru village to senaru rim and the next morning decent through the same way to senaru.

Always depends on your package and destination. If you wish to climb the summit , starting the hike from sembalun  lawang must be the option as it is the nearest way to reach summit. Moreover , if you think to do hardest climb to the peak on the last day and prefer to ascent in a mild temperature then torean should be the starting point.

Yes. We want you to walk as easy as possible. So please pack as liaght as possible too. The rest of your luggage should be stored in our base and you could get on the day you finish the tour program. It lets you easier dealing with the rest of your luggage and shorter access to your next destination.

Porters are carrying everything needed for you and the group-food, water, camping gear and coocking stuff. However you need to carry your own backpack. With each backpack varying in size and weight , it would be impossible to estimate how many porters needed.

If you want to have a porter carrying your own backpack, you can pay additionally on the spot for one, please be informed in advance.

Yes. There is a holiday at the end of Ramadhan ( 10th – 11th of April 2024 ). As the end of Ramadhan is a very special event for the people on Lombok and they are all celebrating with their family, we decided to make a 3 – day off for our team and don’t offer hiking trips on 10th – 11th of April 2024.

It’s possible to make the 2 days / 1 night tour on 08th – 09th of April and on 12th– 13th of April.

The 3 days / 2 night trek we offer from o7th– 09th of April and from 12th– 14th of April.

The last 4 days / 3 nights tour is from 06th– 09th of April and then again from 12th– 15th of April.
